Aptos Foundation

Trademark Guidelines

Last Updated: April 9, 2024

The Aptos Foundation’s mission is to create universal and fair access to the decentralized Aptos Network.  The Aptos Foundation takes its mission seriously and has created the following trademark guidelines regarding the use of the trademarks owned by the Aptos Foundation.

“Aptos” and related logos, product or service names, slogans and the look and feel of any services we offer in connection with the Aptos Network (collectively, the “Aptos Trademarks”) are all trademarks of the Aptos Foundation.

By setting forth the guidelines below, Aptos Foundation is protecting the long-term goal of fostering a healthy ecosystem for the development of a vast number of scalable, safe, reliable, and upgradeable products for the Aptos Network, while also being transparent in how it protects the Aptos community from being misled when the Aptos Trademarks are used.

Trademark Guidelines

You may use the “Aptos” name and other Aptos Trademarks to accurately refer to the Aptos Network or related services. For example, you may state, if true, that your project is built for the Aptos Network or for the Aptos community.

We expect projects using the Aptos Trademarks to support the core tenets of Aptos Foundation:

  • Scalable, means to focus holistically on performance from the user experience;

  • Safe, means to design for safe resource management and verifiable execution on a blockchain;

  • Reliable, means to implement robust testing and deployment practices; and

  • Upgradeable, means to have flexibility to adapt to new upgrades without downtime.

The Aptos Trademarks may not be used or displayed in any manner that, in our sole discretion:

  • Suggests any sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation between you and the Aptos Foundation unless you have received explicit, written permission from the Aptos Foundation.

  • May be confusing, false or misleading.

  • May cause damage or otherwise injure or bring disrepute to the Aptos Foundation, Aptos Network, or Aptos community.

  • Is connected to unlawful or illegal activity.

  • Could reasonably be found to constitute hate speech or otherwise infringes on the rights of others.

  • Modifies, alters, changes the scale of, skews, rotates, or changes the design or colors of the Aptos Marks.

You may not claim trademark rights in any Aptos Trademark.  You also may not attempt to register any Aptos Trademark, either alone or in combination with any other trademark. You also may not use or claim rights in any name or logo that may be confusingly similar to or dilutive of any of the Aptos Trademarks.
